  Armageddon Car

  how many of you bought a nice sedan, suv, or even a minivan back in the days that you described as your "armageddon car" that you would care for and it would last until the end arrived?.

  i was driving a 1974 plymouth volare wagon in 1992 when i managed to get an 8-year old buick century.

  it was low mileage and had a very luxurious interior.

  A friend of mine bought a high-spec. Cooper S,, boasting that he would never have to pay it off. He wasn't the only one in that congregation who bought cars and houses that they couldn't really afford.

  Has anybody ever heard of this in their local area

  i heard of a jw wedding that:.

  (a)wasn’t done in a kh, and was performed by an elder.

  (b)the ceremony was done on a sunday.. i find this surprising for 2 reasons.

  I know quite a few couples, many my family, all in good standing, who have been married at much nicer venues than KHs. AFAIK, none of them were pressured to wed at the KH.

  i came across this footage recently whilst searching for something completely unrelated and it blew me away!.

  it's from the august 1974 convention at murrayfield, edinburgh and you can clearly see the stage set up still keeping the 6000 years and 1975 mantra going.. what makes this very personal for me is that i was here.

  There were different outcomes for The Great Crowd that survived the Big A and the resurrected, Look it up if you aren't aware of it already. The resurrected didn't get to marry, so if you died a day before Armageddon and got resurrected, your spouse was no longer your spouse and it would be a sin to have any hanky panky with them. To make it even worse, your ex spouse would now be perfect in every way, no wonky eye, no crooked teeth, no symptoms of aging, nice arse etc..

  According to the literature of that era, Dubs on their deathbeds have a thousand years of some kind of non-sexual existence to look forward to.

  When did you see realise James Lloyd Evans was a wrongun?

  i remember him on this site when he was called cedars and had jw survey.. straightaway i noticed he could not accept suggestions.. the time i knew he was dangerous was when his group aawa added people to their fb group without their permission and were outed.. he refused to close the fb page (whilst celebrating 1300 members joining in a few days).

  one member complained and was subsequently disfellowshipped, which could easily have been avoided.. three week's after launching, the fb page was closed down.

  from that moment i knew james lloyd evans was dangerous.. when did you realise he not good?.

  i'm not sure if anyone remembers me since i do not post here much anymore.

  i sometimes pop in around christmas time to see if anyone is interested in exchanging christmas cards like we used to back when i first posted on this site.

  speaking of which, the holiday season will soon be upon us.. if you recall, i was married to a jehovah's witness and i had a daughter i spoke of a lot.

  After Harold Camping's last failed attempt at predicting the Rapture he repented for his sinful predictions and gave up the prediction game instead of reworking his predictions once again,

  All of the Watchtower leaders that have made asses of themselves over the decades, (as Rutherford put it after the Ancient Worthies didn't show up for him), could have done the same, but they chose not to.. If they had eaten some humble pie and admitted that they weren't Jehovah's Channel and that it was them who were guilty of 'running ahead of Jehovah', (not the any of the rank & file who disagreed with them), then you could blame any followers that still chose to follow them. The leaders all had numerous opportunities to do that but most of them chose to carry on the scam, so don't blame their victims.

  Why do JW apostates tend to be activists against the religion?

  most jws are technically apostates from the religions they were raised in.

  Being an activist is a bad idea if you want to have any chance of getting your friends and family out. Once they know that you are wearing an Apostate Badge, they are protected from your influence by Borg installed fear.
  

  To be able to have a sensible discussion with a JW friend or family member, you have to do it without triggering their Apostate Alarm. E.g., create doubts by asking them a question to get them to do research and report back to you with their answer, rather than supplying them with information that they don't/won't want to hear.

  Less is more. Don't inundate them with questions as that gives them the opportunity to only answer the low hanging fruit. Pick a problem question that is important to them, (not you), and get them to promise to get back to you with an answer. When they get back to you, don't let them morph your question into another question/subject that suits them better. If they do try to weasel their way out of answering your question, give them a guilt trip for trying and insist on a sensible answer to your original question.

  Play the innocent, inquisitive, person at all times, but gently point out any logical fallacies, bible/WT contradictions, etc. that they try to use. They need to feel some guilt for trying to fool you.

  My father, inadvertently, said things to cause me enough cognitive dissonance for me to not get baptized before Jesus and Jehovah and their minions on Space Horses, etc., threw little girls down cracks in the ground etc.,around 1975.

  There wasn't much enthusiasm for harassing faders after the 1975 debacle,, especially if they were not even baptized.
  

  I've never been shunned by my family or extended family, but I don't make waves by openly trying to de-convert the 'faithful'.
  

  The best thing I never did was get baptized.

  For maintaining any kind of half decent, (but it will still be dysfunctional), relationship with your JW family, If you have any doubts at all, I strongly recommend not getting baptized,
